They hail from among the most ancient unbroken monastic lineages still surviving today. The authenticity of the teachings is safeguarded by the entire team of Vedic monks serving the mission. The Hansavedas Mission brings to the Nonprofit a vast repository of Vedic wisdom based on the Sanskrit texts. The Western mission of this consortium disseminates these teachings through the Nonprofit, Self Enquiry Life Fellowship. While most of these institutions ( mațha) are located in northern India, including Himalaya ( Shivalik mountains), their operations are headquartered in Varanasi, where four properties have an ongoing established curriculum of training, learning and meditating. ![]() What is taught has thus not only retained a sound philosophical basis grounded in a time-tested Vedic system of learning, but is also based on a living practice as part of the unbroken Himalayan adepts tradition. The monks who study historical Sanskrit literature are seamless in their scholarly and meditative interpretation of cardinal Sanskrit philosophies, such as Vedanta, Samkhya and Yoga. The curriculum is based on what is already established and ongoing at several sister institutions in India run by the monks of the monastic council. The saintly monks oversee the well-structured Hansavedas curriculum that is implemented using ancient Sanskrit guidelines (canon). Like any other mațha upholding the Sanskrit monastic heritage, Hansavedas Mațha has a profound time-honoured curriculum ( gurukulam) guided by erudite Vedic monks who are themselves meditation adepts. The name Hansavedas Fellowship defines the fellowship service that shares the holistic curriculum of wisdom teachings and meditation practices from the Himalayan tradition of Hansavedas Mațha (often spelled as mutt). In Southern California, where the Nonprofit has its headquarters, the regular fellowships and meditation services are led by His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda. Invited lectures, peace chants and discourses, livestream fellowships, workshops on wellness and breathing ( prānāyāma), meditation retreats, healing prayer services or peace masses, initiations into Himalayan meditation, and authentic Vedic fire ceremonies ( homa) are all well attended by the public.
